Great Woods Pet Sitting was founded in 2005 (originally as Sue’s Pet Sitting Service) and became a member of Pet Sitters International that same year. After moving to Norton in 2022, the business was renamed to reflect the local community it serves.
From the beginning, the goal has been simple: provide reliable, professional, compassionate care that gives pet parents real peace of mind.
Professional Credentials Matter
When you hire Great Woods Pet Sitting, you are hiring a trained professional — not a hobby sitter.
Sue is:
-
A Certified Professional Pet Sitter (CPPS) through Pet Sitters International
-
A Fear Free Certified Professional through Fear Free (both Pet Sitter and Animal Trainer certifications)
-
A graduate with distinction from CATCH Canine Trainers Academy (CTA-CDTK)
-
A proud member of the Pet Professional Guild
-
Certified in Cat & Dog CPR and First Aid
-
Bonded, insured, and background checked
These certifications aren’t just letters after a name. They mean ongoing education, safe handling practices, reduced stress for pets, and the ability to recognize potential health or behavior concerns early.
Why Being a Solo Sitter Benefits You
Great Woods Pet Sitting is intentionally a solo operation.
That means:
-
Your pet sees the same trusted person every visit
-
No rotating staff or unfamiliar faces
-
Consistent routines and handling
-
Direct communication every time
Because Sue limits the number of clients she accepts, each pet receives focused, dependable care.

A Lifetime of Loving Animals
Caring for animals isn’t new — it has been a lifelong passion.
Growing up, Sue spent hours walking Snoopy, the family’s shepherd-collie mix, and learning to ride and care for horses in her family’s barn. Those early experiences built a deep respect for animals and their individual personalities.

Over the years, her own pets have included:
Mew Mew, a beloved polydactyl cat who shared 18 years of companionship

Bubba, a fluffy black-and-white rescue adopted from the Mansfield Animal Shelter

Titania, a playful long-haired black cat adopted from APCSM
Today, she shares her home with two cats:

Mariposa, a sweet, fluffy tortoiseshell cat adopted from the Medfield Animal Shelter.

Kizmet, a sprited long-haired black cat adopted from Baypath Humane Society of Hopkinton.
Living with her own pets — including seniors and rescues — has given her firsthand experience with medical needs, behavior changes, and the importance of patience and compassion.
The Best Part of the Job
On a beautiful day, there’s nothing better than walking a dog. While Sue doesn’t currently own one, she considers it a privilege to be trusted with her clients’ dogs — and loves forming bonds with each one.
Some pets take time to warm up. Others greet her like an old friend from day one. There’s nothing more rewarding than earning the trust of a shy cat who finally hops onto her lap to purr.
That trust is never taken lightly.
